Background of WUOW
~SUNY Oneonta began planning WUOW after the regional floods of 2006 with the primary goal of developing a community radio station with emergency broadcast capabilities.
~In addition to independent power generating facilities WUOW also provides emergency management officials the ability to go live directly over the air in times of emergency.
~WUOW, Oneonta Community Radio, is an NPR
and Pacifica public radio affiliate operating 24/7 on the radio at 104.7FM and online at
wuow.org
~ The service area is currently the City and Town of Oneonta and with the anticipated approval of a new license, WUOW will soon be able to serve the larger population of Otsego County
