If you would like to get tips and recipes for making your own Gingerbread creation
Tuesday, November 10th for a Gingerbread Workshop.   These workshops are hosted by the Arts Council at the Wilber Mansion on Ford Avenue in Oneonta with two sessions: 3:30-4:30pm or 5:15 to 6:15pm.  The workshops will be conducted by David Kropp, Bakery Manager at the State University of Oneonta. When your Gingerbread creation is complete, enter it in the contest by dropping it off at NBT Bank on Wall St. on Monday, November 30th from 5-9 pm or Tuesday, December 1st from 10 am-1 pm.  Entry fee is $10.

Stravinsky's Soldier's Tale: Holiday Concert

Set to music by Igor Stravinsky, with a libretto based on a Russian folk tale, the much loved L'hstoire du Soldat is a parable about a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil for a book that predicts the future of the economy. The music-orchestral color at the fore - is scored for a septet of violin, double bass, clarinet, bassoon, cornet, trombone, and percussion and the story is told by a narrator, in this case the celebrated English baritone Benjamin Luxon. With virtuoso violinist Yehonatan Berick leading the performance.

Superbly representing the new vanguard of world music, Kinobe and Soul Beat Africa are coming to Cooperstown on their first North American tour. Evocative, earthy songwriting and impassioned delivery have been the hallmark of Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, longtime leaders of the folk-rock band Over the Rhine, for over 15 years. Pianist, singer and songwriter Vienna Teng & Alex Wong's music is a fresh, original blend of folk and pop, with classical and jazz overtones. This concert promises to be a holiday show like none other.
