Most soil is derived from the parent rock of that area. A soil test is a chemical method to determine the nutrients in the soil. Not all soil test are alike and depend on the procedure, the result will vary a little. The test does not measure the total amount of any specific nutrients in the soil because not all the nutrients are readily usable to the plant. The test measure a part of the total nutrients that the plant can take up and use. The procedure and method used for this project are according to Lamotte Combination Soil Outfit. There are other kits available that could be used for soil analyses.
