Chloride

Chloride exist in the soil as chloride ion (Cl^-), it is essential for normal plant growth, however little is known about what it does in the plant. Excess chloride may be toxic.

Procedure for test  

1. Fill Test Tube with 5ml of demineralized water.
2. Add one Soil Measure of soil, cap tube and shake for 2-3 minutes.
3. Allow a few minutes for contents to settle, filter into another test tube.
4. Transfer 5 drops of filtrate into Turbidity Vial.
5. Add one drop of Chloride Test Solution, swirl gently
6. Hold the vial about half inch above the black strip in the middle of the chart.
7. Match the turbidity against Chloride Chart.
