Program Objectives

  • To identify, recruit and enroll 60 eligible migrant and seasonal farm workers into HEP Oneonta.
     
  • To provide participants with an orientation program which will familiarize participants with the college and HEP Oneonta.
     
  • To provide intensive individualized instruction in Writing, Science, Social Studies, Literature and Arts, and Math. The instruction is designed to enhance each participant’s academic competencies necessary to successfully obtain a GED.
     
  • To teach participants study skills and strategies needed to achieve their full academic potential.
     
  • To provide personal, career, academic, and life skills counseling to all participants and to provide follow-up services for participants who have successfully completed HEP Oneonta.
     
  • To engage participants in university activities, as well as off-campus cultural, academic, and recreational events or activities designed to foster a positive self-concept and enhance socialization skills.
     
  • To provide placement assistance in post-secondary education, vocational training, military services or employment.
