What is HEP?

The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) located at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta is the only residential GED program in the Northeast designed to serve migrant and seasonal farm workers or their dependents. Participants in the program will receive comprehensive academic instruction and support services, which will enable them to obtain the General Educational Development Degree (GED).

HEP Oneonta offers open enrollment for 60 qulaified students each college year. A maximum of fifteen students will be admitted in the residential component at any given session and all students will live on the college campus during their enrollment in the program.

HEP Oneonta believes that obtaining a GED is only a beginning. Therefore, during participation in the program, students will have an opportunity to explore employment opportunities and obtain information about higher education and vocational training options. HEP Oneonta helps students realize their "dream."
