OCA EDUCATIONAL AND COMMUNITY EVENTS

Part of the mission of OCA is to serve our community by providing informative presentations in connection with our concerts. Free school jazz workshops, master classes for students, dance lecture-demonstrations, pre-concert lectures and other educational sessions have been offered in recent years. OCA has felt fortunate to co-sponsor many events with other community groups and institutions, including Catskill Choral Society, Catskill Conservatory, Catskill Symphony Orchestra, Hartwick College, SUNY Oneonta and the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts. Announcements about OCA educational events are listed on OCA’s website.

The first Fall for the Arts, Otsego County Arts Festival, was presented by the Otsego County Arts Alliance on September 16, 2006 at the Glimmerglass Opera House. The family-oriented day-long event featured music and dance performances, art exhibits and arts and crafts demonstrations.

The Otsego County Arts Alliance includes more than 15 arts organizations based in Otsego County and seeks to present a wide variety of performance and cultural opportunities that may be new or uncommon for area residents. The Alliance works to cultivate in our younger residents an interest in and knowledge about the arts. The Alliance sponsors a yearly arts scholarship for high school students in each Otsego County school system.

As part of its participation in this event The Oneonta Concert Association sponsored a performance by Neo Collage, a group from the highly regarded Eastman School. >>>
