Washington, Jany 20th 1862 Dear Mother As I have been writing to Somers, I thot it would do no harm to put in a few lines to you. To day through the intervention of Providence or someboddy else we have got our pay. We were paid from the time we were mustered into service up to the first of January my pay amounts to fifteen dollars and Sixteen cents. Inclosed you will find five dollars $5-which is all I will be able to send this time. There is so many things that I want and can't get along very well without and besides that I have got to get another pair of boots those that I had have turned out to be good for nothing the next time I get paid I will send home enough to make up for this time which will be the first of March I hope to get an answer to my last letter soon. Ed is in the Patent Office Hospital and as that is a good place and they get good care he may get well again Your aff Son |
