Dear Mother

I got your letter of the 2nd last night the first mail we have had in a long time. We are marching every day. The weather is very cold. The snow fell about 2 inches deep Friday and it is snowing a little now. I have been sitting by the fire all night, catching a little sleep at a time. We have got to march again to day start at day light. Have not got the shirts yet. Hope I shall get them soon. It is so dark I can not see to write good. I will write as soon as we stop in any place.
Your Aff Son
