Near Oppelousas LA October 17th 1863
Dear Mother
I have got just about three minutes to spare & I will write a few lines
and wait for a better chance. I have been very bussy for the last two
days issuing Clothing to the regiment and I am all in a fog. Foote has
to issue to the regimental qtrMaster and he is about as badly fogged as
I am but I guess I will come out right in a day or two. There is not
much news here only we have had a little skirmishing for a few days back
but it has not amounted to much. I got your letter of the 25th last
night. I can't write any more now. We are all right here and hope to
continue so Remember me to all.
